IMPACT

Mahashakti foundation was established to give women the opportunity to earn a living. The only other option available for women to start their own business is to pay the extortionate rates to moneylenders. Moneylenders in Orissa charges up to 120% where as Mahashakti asks for just 30% and that is with doorstep service. Unlike the majority of MFIs in India, Mahashakti only provides loans for income generating activities. Income generating loans often lack the much needed structure to help build feasible enterprises most notably in regard to upsetting the supply and demand balance. Mahashakti is able to overcome this problem using its Livelihood Development Services (with loan support). This ensures the loan create maximum impact on the women’s level of income.
